Konko AI, a rapidly growing artificial intelligence platform for managing patient journeys in Latin American healthcare institutions, has announced a $6 million funding round. The investment was led by Hi Ventures with participation from LifeX Ventures, SquareOne Capital, GroundUp Ventures, Phoenix Fund, and angel investors from Harvard, MIT, Google, and Tesla. The New York and San José-based company will use the capital to accelerate product development and expand its footprint across Latin America.
Tackling Administrative Workloads in Healthcare
The company was founded after co-founder and CEO Jean-Marc Goguikian observed how his wife, Dr. Juliana Vallejo, spent years training to save lives but was increasingly consumed by paperwork rather than patient care. He partnered with Harvard classmate and artificial intelligence expert Michael Haddad to build technology that would give doctors more time. Konko AI launched in Costa Rica to help overwhelmed clinics manage rising workloads more effectively.
Its first deployment took place at the clinic founded by Goguikian and his wife, and the company later expanded into Mexico and Colombia. Within one year, Konko AI has become the most widely used platform in its category across the region. It now manages more than two million patient interactions across 90 healthcare institutions and 60 medical specialties, with 75 percent of those interactions handled end-to-end by artificial intelligence.
From Scheduling Tool to End-to-End Platform
What began as an artificial intelligence solution for appointment scheduling has evolved into a medical-grade platform that automates the patient journey from initial contact through follow-up care. Healthcare providers adopt Konko AI when their operational complexity outgrows existing tools and fragmented systems. Clients typically experience up to 30 percent revenue growth, a 50 percent increase in productivity and a 30 point improvement in patient Net Promoter Score.
The platform includes Front Office, which autonomously handles patient messages, triage and scheduling in any language. Reactivate reaches patients proactively to close referral loops and recover missed appointments. Unify consolidates each patient context into a continuous, interoperable record, while Analyze equips teams with real-time analytics and agentic evaluation to assess patient needs.
Scaling Across the Global South
The new funding will fuel product development and support growth expansion across Latin America, advancing the company mission to deliver personalized healthcare to the 5.6 billion people in the Global South. Konko AI leadership emphasizes that applying artificial intelligence to healthcare is more complex than most companies recognize because every clinic operates unique workflows across dozens of systems. The company has spent years working with providers to develop AI that understands how healthcare organizations actually function.
Konko AI approach unifies patient context into a continuous record as it automates routine administrative work. This creates a single source of information that helps clinical teams coordinate care more efficiently. The result is a platform that supports both revenue growth and stronger patient relationships while reducing the burden on medical staff.
With this $6 million round, Konko AI is positioned to strengthen its leadership in Latin America and expand its impact on healthcare delivery in the Global South. The company has already demonstrated meaningful scale by managing more than two million patient interactions and serving 90 healthcare institutions across three countries. Its focus on reducing administrative workloads and unifying patient data reflects a practical response to one of the most persistent challenges in modern medicine.
