Kira has introduced Agentic POBO, a solution designed to help fintechs, brokers, and businesses pay overseas suppliers in their clients' names without opening virtual accounts. The launch targets a persistent cross-border payment bottleneck where banks reject mismatched payor information and proof of payment can take days. Kira says the new product sends payments over SWIFT the same day and delivers MT103 proof by the next day.
A Persistent Cross-Border Friction
Paying a supplier on behalf of a client remains one of the hardest tasks for fintechs. Banks frequently reject payments when the ultimate payor's name does not match the invoice, or when the supplier's bank requests documents the sender cannot provide. Many importers are small businesses that operate through fintechs and global trade companies, which makes banks even more hesitant to process their payments.
How Agentic POBO Works
Kira's AI agent checks the ultimate payor's name against the invoice, assembles the documents the receiving bank expects, and flags any missing information. The ultimate payor funds the fintech, the fintech pays on its behalf, and the beneficiary receives the MT103 the next day. Payments move over SWIFT the same day, and Kira provides the proof of payment without requiring an extra virtual account.
The compliance file and bank route are prepared by agents in seconds, after which a Kira officer signs off. Kira only sees the sub-client, because the account belongs to that client and the payment is made on the ultimate payor's behalf. The process is invoice-backed and subject to Kira's compliance review.
Users and Market Fit
Kira positions Agentic POBO for import brokers that need suppliers paid rather than new bank accounts to manage. It also serves fintechs and payment providers supporting Latin American importers that pay suppliers in China, as well as intercompany payments and invoice-backed travel agency payments. According to Gabriela, CEO of Outsource X, a Panama-based global trade broker, normal SWIFT payments previously took about 72 hours and MT103 proof could take three additional days.
Gabriela added that banks would not process a supplier payment in a client's name before Kira, and clients waited close to a week to prove payment. With the new product, she said the payment goes out in the client's name the same day and the MT103 arrives as proof. Beto Diaz, COO of Kira, said most fintechs cannot offer this capability because banks reject the payment or ask for an account per client.
About Kira
Kira is building what it calls the first agentic layer for cross-border payments. Its agents open accounts, clear KYB checks, answer requests for information, and track every payment while humans sign the decisions. The company says this model lets money move at the speed of software rather than the speed of email.
Agentic POBO reflects a practical response to a compliance-heavy corner of cross-border trade, where small importers often lose time waiting for bank documentation. By coupling AI-based document preparation with human sign-off, Kira aims to compress a process that once took nearly a week into same-day execution. The product's focus on invoice-backed payments and existing customer relationships could make it attractive to fintechs that want to offer more without managing virtual accounts for every client.
