Jonathan Tower, the Regional Managing Director and Head of U.S. Ventures for Prosperity7, has announced his departure from the firm. After a successful tenure establishing the U.S. presence for Aramco's $3 billion venture arm, he is now launching a new AI-native venture platform. This move signals a significant new chapter for the prominent investor and reflects a strategic pivot towards the burgeoning artificial intelligence sector.

A Period of Significant Growth at Prosperity7

Upon joining Prosperity7 in early 2022 as its inaugural U.S. executive, Tower was tasked with building the firm's North American operations from the ground up. He successfully launched and scaled the venture business, establishing a significant footprint within the competitive American venture ecosystem. His leadership was instrumental in creating a fully formed and operational U.S. platform for the global fund.

During his leadership, Tower oversaw the opening of new offices in key technology hubs, including Palo Alto and New York City. He also recruited and built a formidable 14-person U.S. investment team to source and manage deals. These foundational efforts were crucial in cementing Prosperity7's reputation and operational capacity in the United States.

A Legacy of High-Impact Investments

Under Tower's strategic direction, Prosperity7's U.S. arm deployed over $600 million into the market. This capital was distributed across a diverse portfolio of more than 60 promising technology companies. The firm's investment focus spanned critical sectors such as AI infrastructure, data platforms, robotics, and enterprise software.

The portfolio curated during his tenure includes several high-profile companies that are leaders in their respective fields. Notable investments include AI pioneers like Cohere and Together AI, as well as data platform SingleStore and cybersecurity firm AppOmni. This high-conviction portfolio highlights a successful strategy of backing transformative technology startups.

Launching a New AI-Native Platform

Looking forward, Tower is channeling his expertise into a new venture platform specifically designed for the artificial intelligence era. The new firm will focus on backing founders who are building the next generation of AI companies and essential infrastructure. This initiative aims to capitalize on what Tower sees as a fundamental shift across all industries driven by AI.

The new platform will distinguish itself by combining a thesis-driven investment strategy with an integrated media component. This media arm is designed to share valuable research and insights with the broader technology and entrepreneurial communities. This dual approach aims to foster a more informed and collaborative ecosystem around AI innovation.

Adapting to a New Venture Playbook

Tower believes that artificial intelligence is not only reshaping portfolio companies but also fundamentally altering how venture capital firms must operate. He stated that the venture playbook which defined the last decade will not be sufficient for the next. His new platform is being built to reflect this dramatic and ongoing industry transformation.

"With AI reshaping every industry, this feels like the right moment to build again," Tower commented on his decision. He emphasized his focus on creating a platform that acknowledges and adapts to the profound changes AI is bringing. This perspective underscores his forward-looking approach to venture capital in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Jonathan Tower's departure from Prosperity7 marks the end of a successful chapter of growth and the beginning of an ambitious new venture. His new AI-focused platform represents a deliberate move to align with the transformative power of artificial intelligence in the investment world. This transition highlights a key trend as venture capital leaders adapt their strategies for the next wave of technological innovation.
