Jolt Capital, a Paris-based private equity firm focused on European deep tech growth companies, announced on October 12, 2026, that it is establishing Jolt Capital Japan K.K. and opening a new Tokyo office in Nihonbashi. The firm also named Yasuaki Mori, former Representative Director and CEO of Infineon Technologies Japan, as an operating partner based in Japan. The announcement marks a new milestone in Jolt Capital's international expansion across East Asia.

New Tokyo Office and Leadership

The Tokyo office opening and the creation of Jolt Capital Japan K.K. represent a major step forward for the firm's operations in Japan. The expansion was supported by the appointment of Akira Okada as managing director in September 2024 and the more recent hiring of Tomohiko Tanaka as value creation partner in June 2026. These appointments have laid the groundwork for stronger local engagement with technology, industrial, and financial partners.

Experienced Operating Partner

Yasuaki Mori brings more than 40 years of technology industry experience as an executive, board member, and advisor. He began his career at AMD and later spent about 17 years as Representative Director and CEO of Infineon Technologies Japan, where revenue grew from approximately US$100 million to US$900 million. Mori currently serves as an outside director of Macnica Holdings, a Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market listed technology distributor and solution provider.

Deepening Partnerships and Strategic Transactions

Over the past two years, Jolt Capital has strengthened its relationships with Japanese partners through major technology conferences and direct meetings. CEO Jean Schmitt has spoken at events including VivaTech, SusHi Tech, and the Global Startup Expo, while the firm has built ties with the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and the Japan External Trade Organization. The momentum is also supported by a strategic transaction involving portfolio company Tempress and a Sumitomo Precision Products subsidiary.

Strategic Objectives in Japan

With a permanent presence in Tokyo, Jolt Capital aims to deepen ties within Japan's technology, industrial, and financial ecosystems. The firm will source new investment opportunities locally and help European portfolio companies enter Asian markets. It also plans to support the global expansion of Japanese technology companies through its international network of experienced technology executives and operators.

Mori's Perspective

Mori stated that corporate reorganization in Japan offers Jolt Capital an opportunity to support specialized companies in global expansion and to assist Japanese firms through deep tech innovation and industrial collaboration. He said the firm's international network of technology executives can also contribute to overseas growth for Japanese companies in their growth stages. Mori added that he is honored to join the team and committed to helping Jolt become a trusted partner in Japan.
