Belgian automotive safety technology company IVEX is bringing its NCAP Evaluator software to NVIDIA Halos SAFE, extending established vehicle assessment methods into automated-driving development. Announced on October 21, 2026, the initiative aims to make results from simulated and physical driving tests easier to compare. It will give developers consistent scoring rules and traceable evidence for evaluating increasingly complex driving systems.

Connecting Safety Scoring With NVIDIA Halos

NVIDIA Halos SAFE, the Safety Assurance Framework for Evaluation, supports assessments of autonomous-driving performance and the credibility of testing methods. It operates within NVIDIA Halos, a wider safety system spanning hardware, software, artificial intelligence, and industry partners. The framework combines virtual and physical evaluation to help developers assemble measurable evidence of vehicle safety performance.

IVEX is contributing its NCAP Evaluator, which analyzes vehicle testing data against defined assessment protocols. The software applies safety scoring rules and data checks to results from simulations and physical driving tests. Using a common method allows engineers to review performance without switching between unrelated evaluation procedures.

The process also links scores to the data behind them, helping teams investigate unexpected findings. When a simulated outcome differs from a physical result, engineers can examine the discrepancy and decide whether further validation is required. IVEX says structured review workflows will preserve human oversight of final assessments.

Addressing the Challenges of Simulated Testing

Automakers increasingly use simulations to examine how driving systems respond to traffic scenarios, road conditions, and potential hazards. Virtual testing makes it possible to repeat situations that could be difficult, costly, or unsafe to recreate on roads. However, simulated outcomes still need meaningful performance criteria and comparisons with physical observations.

Halos SAFE seeks to address that challenge by connecting evaluation methods with documented requirements and supporting evidence. Within this process, IVEX provides protocol-based scoring rather than replacing the systems that conduct simulations or road tests. Consistent scores can inform engineering decisions, although they do not independently establish vehicle safety or confer an official Euro NCAP rating.

Building on Euro NCAP Experience

IVEX already supplies technology used in official Euro NCAP vehicle assessments, providing a foundation for its move into automated-driving evaluation. Its NCAP Evaluator is also used by vehicle manufacturers and accredited laboratories involved in Euro NCAP testing. The software supports test data management, analysis, scoring, and reporting across driver-assistance and other vehicle safety domains.

Founded in 2018, IVEX develops automotive safety testing software for manufacturers and assessment organizations. The company says its broader platform has supported on-road testing campaigns in more than 20 countries and processed data from over 50 vehicle models. It also reports holding six patents and being certified to the ISO 27001 information security standard.

Funding and International Expansion

The announcement follows IVEX's €5 million Series A financing in September 2026, intended to advance its technology and support expansion into North America and Asia. Its work with NVIDIA offers another route for applying established assessment tools within newer automated-driving development workflows. The company is positioning protocol-based evaluation as a link between traditional vehicle testing and simulation-led engineering.

IVEX co-founder and CEO Mario Torres emphasized the need for consistent measurement as more vehicle development moves into simulation. He said the work with NVIDIA would extend IVEX's experience in established safety assessments to the next generation of automated-driving systems. The company's stated goal is to help engineers make better-informed decisions using results they can measure, compare, and verify.

IVEX's move into NVIDIA Halos SAFE extends familiar vehicle assessment methods to the growing field of autonomous-driving evaluation. Applying consistent NCAP-based scoring across virtual and physical tests is intended to improve comparability and make the evidence behind safety judgments easier to examine. Its contribution will ultimately depend on how engineering teams combine that evidence with testing, validation, and human review.
