iPronics Raises $125 Million Series B for AI Optical Switching

Maverick Silicon and Light Street Capital co-lead with NVIDIA joining to scale AI optical switching

Valencia, Spain and Santa Clara, California based iPronics, a pioneer in silicon photonics based optical circuit switching for AI infrastructure, has raised $125 million in Series B funding. The round was co-led by Maverick Silicon and Light Street Capital, with participation from NVIDIA and several other new and existing investors. This latest investment brings the company's total funding to $177 million and signals growing industry confidence in optical switching for next generation AI data centers.


Funding Round and Strategic Investors

The Series B round includes participation from Triatomic Capital, Bosch Ventures, Catalight Capital, European Innovation Council Fund, The Tate Family Trust, Fine Structure Ventures, Amadeus Capital Partners, Build Collective, and Criteria Venture Tech. The company said the capital will be used to significantly scale operations, accelerate commercial deployment, and meet increasing demand for its iPronics Optical Networking Engine. The product is a rack mounted optical switch built for AI workloads.

Technology for AI Data Center Networks

iPronics has developed a compact, purpose built optical circuit switching platform based on silicon photonics. The company says the platform addresses connectivity requirements of AI infrastructure by helping hyperscalers expand AI capacity while managing cost, power, and complexity. As AI clusters grow, rising scale up networking demands are accelerating the transition from copper to optics and creating need for high density scale up switching solutions.

Investor Perspectives and Board Appointments

Maverick Silicon senior managing director Manish Muthal said optical circuit switching has become more critical as AI workloads push traditional network infrastructure to its power and bandwidth limits. Muthal joins the iPronics board of directors alongside Geoffrey Tate, an advisor to Light Street Capital and former founding CEO of Rambus. Light Street partner Shef Osborn said the firm believes iPronics offers a scalable and cost effective approach to solid state optical switching at the interconnect layer.

CEO Perspective on Commercial Acceleration

Christian Dupont, CEO of iPronics, said securing support from Maverick Silicon, Light Street Capital and NVIDIA strengthens the company's vision as it builds a new class of optical networking leaders. He added that the investment will significantly accelerate commercialization and deliver the scale customers need to drive broad adoption. The company's goal is to ensure data centers can fully utilize their GPUs without compromising performance.

Leadership and Commercial Expansion

Young Sohn of Catalight Capital, which manages a dedicated fund focused on AI infrastructure, becomes an advisor to the company. Sohn previously served as Corporate President and Chief Strategy Officer at Samsung and as CEO of Inphi. He said next generation AI infrastructure will require a more dynamic optical first network fabric and that iPronics can help data centers scale performance while managing power and cost.

Product Momentum and U.S. Growth

The iPronics Optical Networking Engine includes integrated control, telemetry, and APIs to provide a programmable optical layer for real time connectivity reconfiguration. The company has opened a U.S. office in Santa Clara, California, and is actively hiring to strengthen product strategy, customer deployments, and AI infrastructure partnerships. Founder and CTO Daniel Perez Lopez said the Series B reflects the team's execution and successful demonstrations with tier one partners.


With $125 million in new capital and support from strategic investors including NVIDIA, iPronics is positioned to expand commercial deployments of its silicon photonics switching technology across AI data centers. The funding arrives as the industry increasingly turns to optical circuit switching to overcome power and bandwidth constraints in large scale AI clusters. The company's growing U.S. presence and focus on scalable optical networking reflect its ambition to become a key supplier in the next generation of AI infrastructure.
