InsuranceDekho and RenewBuy have announced a merger to form what they describe as India’s largest AI-enabled insurance distribution platform serving point-of-sale persons. The combined entity brings together two fast-growing insurtech businesses with a shared focus on expanding insurance access beyond large metropolitan centres. The announcement positions the new organisation to operate with a premium book exceeding Rs 6,600 crore and a nationwide network of digital partners.
Scale and Market Coverage
As of March 31, 2026, the merged business has a premium book of more than Rs 6,600 crore and a network of over six lakh digital partners. The platform covers 98.57 per cent of India’s pin codes and has facilitated the issuance of more than two crore insurance policies since inception. This scale reflects a distribution model that reaches established urban markets while extending into smaller towns and semi-urban centres.
Leadership and Brand Strategy
The integrated business will operate under the InsuranceDekho brand, with founder and Chief Executive Officer Ankit Agrawal leading the combined organisation. Founders from both companies will continue in key roles to maintain continuity in execution and long term strategy. This leadership arrangement is intended to preserve the entrepreneurial strengths of both platforms throughout the integration process.
Geographic and Distribution Synergies
The transaction pairs InsuranceDekho’s established presence across northern and western India with RenewBuy’s strong network in southern markets. Together, the companies expect to offer seamless pan India coverage through a single distribution platform. The combined footprint is designed to support partner agents in smaller towns and villages with the same digital tools, product suite and operational support available in metro areas.
Technology and Product Focus
The company plans to integrate automated partner onboarding, digital policy issuance and AI-powered advisory services across its network. InsuranceDekho’s real time plan recommendation tools will be combined with RenewBuy’s technology stack to strengthen distribution infrastructure. The platform will operate as an open multi insurer ecosystem offering more than 750 products from 52 insurers across motor, health, life, travel and commercial lines.
Strategic Rationale and Vision
Ankit Agrawal, founder and chief executive officer of InsuranceDekho, said the combination is a strategic step toward taking insurance to the last mile. Balachander Sekhar, chief executive officer of RenewBuy, added that the union brings together digital, technology and distribution enablement to support insurance partners. Both leaders emphasised disciplined execution and seamless integration as immediate priorities for the merged entity.
Market and Regulatory Context
The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the consolidation. InsuranceDekho has raised funding from Beams Fintech Fund and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, while RenewBuy is backed by Dai-ichi Life Holdings. The deal reflects a wider trend in which insurers and distributors use technology and broader partner networks to improve insurance penetration beyond major cities and into underserved regions.
The unified entity intends to work closely with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India to advance financial inclusion while keeping insurance at the core of its long-term roadmap. Over time, the combined technology backbone and distribution network are expected to support broader financial and enterprise opportunities. By aligning product choice, digital capability and local partner reach, the merger positions the group to strengthen last mile insurance access across India.
