Indurex, a Netherlands-based industrial cybersecurity company, has raised €7 million in a funding round led by Contrarian Ventures, with participation from Axeleo Capital and Curiosity. The company specializes in AI-powered protection for cyber-physical systems used in critical infrastructure, manufacturing, and connected industrial operations. The new capital will fund research and development and commercial expansion, initially in Europe and the Middle East and later in the United States and Asia-Pacific.

Engineering Intelligence as a Missing Layer

Traditional operational technology security tools were built to monitor network-connected assets and activity, but industrial risk also depends on whether engineering configurations, protection settings, and safety functions remain aligned with their intended state. Indurex closes this gap with an AI-native, interoperable platform that unifies engineering context and cybersecurity intelligence under an approach the company calls Engineering Intelligence. The platform securely correlates operational and security telemetry to transform complex industrial data into context-aware insights with recommended actions.

Inside the SafeGuard AI Platform

Indurex SafeGuard AI ingests data from distributed control systems, safety instrumented systems, historians, alarm management systems, and IT security tools, offering extensive integration capabilities across industrial environments. AI agents then surface anomalies, engineering deviations, and potential risks that require human attention and decision-making. The platform supports automated reporting against cybersecurity and functional safety standards such as IEC 62443, IEC 61511, IEC 61508, NIS2, NIST CSF, and NERC CIP.

Operational and Financial Benefits

Indurex states that the platform creates value across three dimensions: operational excellence and safety integrity, cyber resilience, and cost and compliance. By unifying situational awareness, organizations can reduce trips, accelerate cause analysis, and strengthen continuous assurance for process integrity. The technology also provides contextualized detection and response across digital and physical domains while generating defensible evidence for risk and control maturity.

A Threat Landscape Moving into the Physical World

More than one in five industrial organizations experienced an industrial control systems or operational technology cyber incident in the past year, and 40% of those incidents disrupted operations, according to the SANS Institute. A separate SANS survey found that 58% of respondents named IT compromises spreading into OT networks as the leading initial attack vector. As IT and OT environments become more interconnected, AI gives attackers new capabilities to accelerate and scale their operations.

Funding Strategy and Target Markets

Indurex will use the new funding to support research and development and to build out its commercial capabilities. Europe and the Middle East are priority markets ahead of planned expansion into the United States and Asia-Pacific. The company's early customers range from mid-sized energy and manufacturing companies to large multinational enterprises, with utilities and data center operators among its target markets.

Leadership and Investor Perspective

Founder and CEO Jalal Bouhdada said cybersecurity and operational excellence have too often been managed as separate disciplines, and Engineering Intelligence is the missing layer for operators across critical infrastructure. Contrarian Ventures Founder and Managing Partner Rokas Peciulaitis noted that operators need to understand what an alert means for the physical process behind it. The investor added that electrification is putting more critical infrastructure online, while attacks on it are rising.

Indurex's €7 million round highlights growing investor confidence in technology that connects cybersecurity, safety, and operational resilience for industrial environments. The company is addressing a long-standing blind spot by focusing on engineering and process data rather than network activity alone. Its planned expansion across Europe, the Middle East, and later the United States and Asia-Pacific positions it to meet rising demand from critical infrastructure operators.
