International Dance League, Inc. (IDL), the world's first global professional dance league, has closed a US$15 million Series A funding round led by Elysian Park Ventures. The round also drew participation from Sony Group Corporation, Sony Corporation, KB Partners, APEX, Yamaha Music Innovations Fund, and October Ventures. The capital arrives after a breakout inaugural season that positioned competitive dance as a viable professional sport with global audience appeal.

Breakout Inaugural Season

IDL launched its first season in May 2026 with six founding teams representing cities around the world: Brotherhood from Vancouver, Quick Style from Oslo, Jam Republic from Singapore, 1MILLION from Seoul, Royal Family from Auckland, and GRV from Los Angeles. The league held competitions in New York, Vancouver, Sydney, and Los Angeles, with all six events selling out. The season concluded at Los Angeles' Shrine Expo Hall, where GRV was crowned the first-ever IDL Season Champion.

Across its opening season, IDL generated 2 billion views, sold out six of six events, and secured its first media rights agreement with ESPN2. The league also attracted brand partnerships with Honda and e.l.f. Cosmetics as it introduced a professional sports model built around dance. These milestones demonstrated that dance has both the audience and cultural momentum to support a dedicated league.

Leadership and Investor Perspectives

Connor Lim, CEO, Commissioner, and Co-Founder of IDL, said the season proved dance has the audience, athletes, and global culture to support a professional sports ecosystem of its own. He stated, "What has historically been missing is the infrastructure around it." This investment will help build stronger team and dancer operations, host events in larger venues, and create a bigger stage for the sport.

Elysian Park Ventures Managing Partner Pete Vlastelica said IDL's rapid growth and innovative strategy remain key reasons for the firm's continued participation. He expressed confidence in the management team's ability to execute a long term vision and disrupt the sports media landscape. The firm believes the league can capture the imagination of a next generation audience.

Series A Use of Funds and 2027 Plans

The new capital is supporting IDL as it completes the 2026 season and enters its next phase of growth. Funding will go toward expanded tour operations, broadcast and digital production, stronger infrastructure for teams and dancers, new fan experiences, and the commercial ecosystem around professional dance for the 2027 season. All six teams are set to return in 2027, with schedule and host cities to be announced.

Sony Group Corporation and Sony Corporation both signaled interest in exploring collaboration at the intersection of dance, technology, and entertainment. Kazuhito Hadano of Sony Group said IDL has demonstrated tremendous potential to engage global audiences in a unique way. Osamu Hajimoto of Sony Corporation added that the league opens new possibilities for dancers, fans, and broader dance culture through technology and creativity.

Investor Confidence in Dance as Sport

Yamaha Music Innovations Fund Managing Partner Andrew Kahn said the fund is backing Connor and Evan as they build a first of its kind league and create a path to pro for dancers worldwide. Koen Bosma of APEX noted that IDL's season opener in New York ranked among the top three sporting events his firm has attended. Jesse Biddle of October Ventures added that dancers are among the best athletes in the world and IDL built the stage they deserve.

With its first season complete and Series A funding secured, IDL is positioned to expand its global footprint and deepen the professional infrastructure around competitive dance. The league has already demonstrated sold-out events, strong digital reach, and commercial partnerships that suggest a sustainable model. As all six founding teams prepare for 2027, IDL aims to continue establishing dance as a major professional sport.
