Global infrastructure investment manager I Squared Capital has announced the launch of ANZA Power, a new energy platform focused on Australia and New Zealand. The platform was established through the strategic acquisition of a portfolio of solar hybrid plants and battery energy storage systems. This move positions ANZA Power to deliver integrated and reliable clean energy solutions to meet the region's growing demands for decarbonization and grid stability.

Strategic Portfolio and Immediate Impact

ANZA Power commences operations with a significant asset base, including an initial portfolio of solar hybrid plants and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This acquisition provides the new entity with an immediate pipeline of projects and secured, long-term cash flows from the outset. Among these are advanced-stage projects totaling 80 MWac/320MWh of solar hybrid capacity located in Victoria and New South Wales.

The financial viability of these initial projects is underpinned by long-term, 20-year agreements with a tier-one hyperscale customer. This contractual certainty creates a stable revenue foundation, which is crucial for attracting further investment and enabling future growth. It allows ANZA Power to confidently scale its operations and develop more lasting energy infrastructure across the region.

Addressing Regional Energy Demands

Harsh Agrawal, Senior Partner at I Squared Capital, highlighted the dual imperative facing the region's power systems. Customers require accelerated decarbonization without compromising the reliability of round-the-clock energy supply, a challenge ANZA Power was designed to solve. The platform aims to deliver clean power that is available when needed most, ensuring grid resilience remains a top priority.

Under I Squared’s ownership, ANZA Power will develop, own, and operate a diversified mix of generation assets. This integrated model combines renewable sources, battery storage, and flexible gas power to meet the complex needs of industrial clients. This approach not only supports emissions reduction but also enhances broader system stability by providing a consistent energy supply.

Future Growth and Global Synergy

Looking ahead, ANZA Power has outlined clear expansion plans to build upon its initial portfolio. The company expects to begin construction on an additional 80 MW of renewable assets across Australia and New Zealand in the first half of 2026. This next phase of development signals a strong commitment to increasing the platform's capacity and market presence.

The new platform will benefit from the extensive global expertise within I Squared Capital's renewable energy portfolio. ANZA Power can leverage skills and efficiencies from sister platforms, such as the pan-Asian Hexa Renewables, which manages over 2 GW of assets. This synergy provides a significant strategic advantage in navigating the complexities of the energy transition in the APAC region.

The launch of ANZA Power represents a significant and strategic investment by I Squared Capital in the Australasian energy market. By creating a platform with a diversified asset mix and a clear growth strategy, the firm is directly addressing the region's need for reliable, clean power. This initiative is poised to support both industrial and economic development while making a meaningful contribution to the ongoing energy transition.
