Italian digital health startup Holifya has closed a €2 million financing round to expand its technology-driven approach to pharmacologic obesity and metabolic syndrome treatment. The financing includes €1.6 million in equity alongside €400,000 in debt and grants, with Next Age, part of CDP Venture Capital’s National Accelerator Network, leading the round. The capital will support technology development, team expansion, patient growth, and additional partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, clinics, insurers, and other healthcare organizations.

Investors Back Holifya’s Expansion

The round brought together CDP Venture Capital, AC75, Growth Engine, Doorway, 20Fund, and Zooga VC, alongside several business angels including Micol Fornaroli, Pier Francesco Rimbotti, Tommaso Gamaleri, Duccio Vitali, and Matteo Mainetti. Growth Engine renewed its support following an earlier investment, while Growth Capital acted as exclusive advisor on the transaction through Giacomo Bider and Emma Celli. The latest financing brings Holifya’s total capital raised since its launch to more than €2.5 million.

Building a Data-Driven Obesity Clinic

Founded in 2023, Holifya operates a digital clinic combining pharmacologic obesity treatment with diagnostics, artificial intelligence, and ongoing clinical support. Its proprietary patient-support model can integrate as many as 3,000 biomarkers per patient, including genetic, blood chemistry, medical history, behavioral, and clinical information collected throughout treatment. Physicians, nutritionists, nurses, and coaches use this data within a multidisciplinary care pathway designed to personalize therapy and improve long-term adherence.

Holifya says its artificial intelligence technology helps physicians assess dropout risks, potential adverse effects, and appropriate dosage adjustments while automating elements of follow-up and patient escalation. Medical professionals remain responsible for validating recommendations and determining the appropriate treatment for each patient, while the platform continuously incorporates new clinical information and medical validation. The company has treated more than 3,000 patients since launch and says eligibility screening can be completed within 48 hours.

Growing Market for GLP-1 Treatment

Holifya is expanding as newer GLP-1 and GIP medicines reshape obesity treatment and create demand for structured clinical programs around their use. The company estimates that more than 23 million Italian adults are overweight or obese, with around 11 million potentially eligible for GLP-1 therapy, although treatment adoption remains relatively limited. Holifya argues that stronger clinical monitoring is particularly important because patients can discontinue treatment due to side effects, dosage problems, or insufficient follow-up.

According to the company, patients using its managed-care model have achieved weight reductions of up to 17% after six months, compared with 7.1% for patients receiving medication alone, while adherence can reach three times typical market levels. Holifya attributes these outcomes to personalized therapy, continuous monitoring, and physician support designed to identify potential complications before they result in treatment discontinuation. The company is positioning this combination of clinical care, data, and artificial intelligence as infrastructure that could support wider adoption of pharmacologic obesity treatment.

Funding to Support Hiring and Technology

Holifya plans to invest the newly raised capital across technology, data, clinical services, consumer growth, and distribution partnerships throughout Italy. The company intends to expand its workforce to more than 60 employees by the end of 2026, with particular emphasis on strengthening its clinical network and recruiting additional talent across technology, data, and growth functions. It also plans to continue developing proprietary AI models intended to assist physicians in delivering increasingly personalized treatment pathways.

Co-founder and CEO Alessandra Cestaro said the company views Italy as a significantly underserved European market for modern obesity and metabolic syndrome treatments. Holifya ultimately aims to build a clinical model that can scale internationally, using artificial intelligence to support medical decision-making while expanding patient access to personalized pharmacologic treatment. The company has also participated in programs including Endeavor Elevator Italy, Plug and Play, A-Road, and Bocconi 4 Innovation.

The €2 million round gives Holifya additional resources to strengthen its position in Italy’s emerging digital obesity-care market while expanding its clinical and technological capabilities. By combining pharmacologic therapy with diagnostics, artificial intelligence, and continuous medical supervision, the company is seeking to address both treatment access and patient adherence as demand for GLP-1 and GIP therapies increases. Its next phase will focus on scaling the model across Italy while developing the infrastructure needed to support potential expansion into other European markets.
