Gojek Singapore and Zig by ComfortDelGro have announced a significant expansion of their partnership, integrating Singapore's largest metered taxi fleet into the Gojek application. This collaboration allows GoTaxi bookings to be fulfilled by Zig's extensive network of taxis. The move is designed to shorten passenger wait times and provide Zig drivers with access to a broader pool of booking demand.

Strengthening an Existing Alliance

This development builds upon a pre-existing arrangement where Zig taxis already fulfilled select GoCar requests on the platform. The expansion reflects a growing consumer preference for the convenience of app-based booking combined with transparent, meter-based fares. This strategic enhancement directly addresses the evolving needs of commuters in the city-state.

Benefits for Commuters and Drivers

For commuters, the primary advantage is significantly reduced waiting times and improved access to transportation across the island. By tapping into Zig's vast fleet, Gojek users can expect a more reliable and efficient booking experience. The fare structure remains consistent, based on the taxi meter with standard platform and payment transaction fees applying.

From the drivers' perspective, this partnership creates a valuable new channel for securing bookings and increasing their earning potential. The integration provides Zig's taxi drivers with direct access to Gojek's large user base, helping to ensure more consistent demand. This supports sustainable livelihoods for drivers by optimizing their time on the road and maximizing their income.

Leadership Perspectives on the Partnership

Janine Teo, General Manager of Gojek Singapore, highlighted the strong demand for app-based metered taxi services. She stated that giving users access to Singapore’s largest licensed taxi network enhances the overall booking experience. This initiative is part of Gojek's ongoing effort to offer more reliable and flexible ride-booking options to meet different customer needs.

Echoing this sentiment, Yee Hon Wai, Head of Rental at Zig, emphasized the unique position of their extensive fleet. He noted that the partnership connects their drivers to a broader range of booking demands. This collaboration creates more opportunities for taxi drivers to secure rides while continuing to meet commuter preferences for metered fares.

This expanded alliance between Gojek and Zig marks a pivotal step in harmonizing ride-hailing technology with traditional taxi services in Singapore. The collaboration delivers tangible benefits to passengers through improved service reliability and to drivers through increased earning opportunities. It ultimately strengthens the urban mobility landscape by creating a more integrated and efficient transportation ecosystem for all.
