Experian Health, a data and technology company serving more than 60 percent of U.S. hospitals, has acquired eInsights, a healthcare technology firm focused on post-service insurance discovery. The acquisition adds a back-end safety net that identifies changes in patient coverage, newly active policies, and coverage that becomes discoverable after care is delivered. The combined platform is intended to help healthcare organizations recover reimbursements that may otherwise be missed while preventing patients from receiving bills for care that insurance should have covered.
Addressing a Complex Insurance Landscape
Identifying a patient's insurance coverage at registration remains important, but it does not always reveal the entire financial picture. Coverage can change, become active, or become discoverable only after a patient has received care. Experian Health notes that this challenge is expected to grow when the One Big Beautiful Bill Act takes effect on January 1, 2027, increasing the frequency of Medicaid eligibility redeterminations.
End-to-End Coverage Identification
The acquisition combines Experian Health's leading front-end insurance discovery platform with eInsights' retroactive coverage identification tools. eInsights serves more than 200 U.S. healthcare organizations and has helped clients recover more than $225 million in reimbursements. Its capabilities include retroactive Medicaid identification, secondary coverage identification, coordination of benefits optimization, past timely filing denial prevention, and Disproportionate Share Hospital reporting.
Leadership Perspectives
Jason Considine, President of Experian Health, said finding insurance coverage should not be a one-time event. He emphasized that coverage can change or become discoverable after care is delivered, and that missing this information affects both provider revenue and patient billing. Considine added that capturing every dollar owed helps ensure the financial stability providers need to continue delivering exceptional patient care.
Founder's Vision for Patient-Centered Discovery
John Wester, Executive Chairman and Founder and CEO of eInsights, said the company was built around a simple idea that providers should have every opportunity to find valid insurance coverage, even after care has been delivered. Joining Experian Health allows the team to bring that capability to more healthcare organizations and connect insurance discovery across the revenue cycle. Wester said this means less manual work for staff, more reimbursement for providers, and fewer unexpected bills for patients.
Industry Recognition and Reporting Support
eInsights was named a top 20 pick for Emerging Solutions by KLAS in 2025. The company's tools support Disproportionate Share Hospital reporting and help providers address past timely filing denials. Together with Experian Health's existing front-end capabilities, the combined offering creates a more complete insurance discovery workflow from patient registration through post-service claims resolution.
Responding to Revenue Cycle Pressures
Experian Health leaders describe the acquisition as a direct response to rising costs, regulatory pressures, and operational complexity. These pressures continue to squeeze margins for healthcare providers, making revenue leakage harder to absorb. By extending insurance discovery to the back end of the revenue cycle, the combined solution gives providers another chance to recover payments they are entitled to receive.
With this acquisition, Experian Health positions itself to help providers reduce uncompensated care, improve reimbursement outcomes, and avoid inappropriate patient billing. The end-to-end platform reflects a broader shift toward continuous coverage identification across the entire revenue cycle, from scheduling to final payment. Healthcare organizations facing tighter margins now have an additional safeguard against missed insurance reimbursement, revenue leakage, and unnecessary financial harm to patients.
