Global travel technology firm Entravel Group has announced its strategic acquisition of Moca Traveltech Group, a Barcelona-based B2B travel startup. This move is set to merge Moca's deep-rooted access to Spanish-speaking markets with Entravel's advanced technological infrastructure. The integration aims to create a more powerful and localized distribution platform for Spain and Latin America.
A Strategic Move into New Markets
Entravel Group's acquisition directly addresses the significant challenge of penetrating the Latin American and Spanish travel sectors. Moca provides an established network of direct hotel contracts and buyer relationships that are difficult to replicate quickly. Founder and CEO Mathias Lundo Nielsen highlighted that Alex Pedret's market expertise and relationships were key factors in the decision.
Since its launch in January 2025, Moca Traveltech Group has specialized in connecting underserved markets with hotel inventory. Led by industry veteran Alex Pedret, formerly of Trip.com Group, the company has leveraged its direct contracting expertise. This focused, regional model has given it unique access to partners across the Spanish-speaking world.
Technology as a Growth Catalyst
Despite its strong market presence, Moca's growth was previously constrained by its dependence on third-party technology. This limitation prevented the company from handling the high query volumes required by large-scale distribution clients. The lack of proprietary infrastructure was a key barrier to unlocking its full potential with existing partners.
Entravel Group provides the technological backbone Moca was missing, including an infrastructure built for high-volume performance. The platform features AI-driven automation, such as intelligent room mapping to reduce content inconsistencies and improve efficiency. These capabilities will now empower Moca to serve its extensive client base at a much larger scale.
Future Operations and Expansion
Following the acquisition, Moca Traveltech Group will rebrand as MocatravelX and operate as the fourth division within Entravel Group. Alex Pedret will remain as CEO of the new entity, ensuring continuity and spearheading its next growth phase. This structure allows the business to maintain its specialized focus while benefiting from group-level resources.
The newly formed MocatravelX has set ambitious goals, targeting a tenfold increase in direct hotel contracting and sales in the coming months. The company plans a significant expansion across the broader Latin American region, with Brazil designated as a priority market. This strategy aims to solidify its position as a leading B2B travel provider in these key territories.
The acquisition of Moca Traveltech Group by Entravel Group marks a significant strategic alignment in the travel technology sector. By combining Moca's invaluable market relationships with Entravel's powerful infrastructure, the partnership is poised for substantial growth. This move ultimately creates a formidable new player dedicated to enhancing hotel distribution across the global Spanish-speaking market.
