On Oct. 21, 2026, Distalmotion announced a senior secured term loan facility of up to US$70 million with Perceptive Advisors, a leading global healthcare investment firm. The financing is intended to support Distalmotion's continued penetration of the United States ambulatory surgery center market and further development of its DEXTER Robotic Surgery System. The announcement highlights growing investor interest in robotic platforms designed specifically for outpatient surgical care.

Financing Purpose and Investor Perspective

The new capital will be used to strengthen Distalmotion's commercial presence in the US ASC segment and advance the DEXTER platform and instrument portfolio. Perceptive Advisors is backing Distalmotion because the company's technology targets high-volume procedures that are shifting from hospitals to outpatient settings. Sam Chawla, Portfolio Manager at Perceptive, said the investment aligns with the firm's focus on high-impact, disruptive healthcare innovation.

Purpose-Built Design for Ambulatory Surgery Centers

DEXTER combines a small, mobile footprint with flexible surgical and supply chain workflows to help ASCs introduce robotic surgery without traditional infrastructure demands. Its sterile console positions the surgeon close to the patient, enabling quick bedside access and seamless transitions between laparoscopic and robotic techniques. The system's open architecture and single-use instruments are designed to reduce sterile processing requirements and support cost-effective operations.

Operational Advantages for Outpatient Settings

The DEXTER platform is engineered to fit into any size operating room without modifications and can be easily maneuvered between rooms to optimize efficiency. The design eliminates many of the operational constraints associated with conventional robotic platforms, which often require dedicated space and complex workflows. This flexibility supports the efficiency and growth metrics that ASC administrators prioritize when adopting new surgical technology.

Regulatory Clearance and Clinical Scope

In the United States, DEXTER is cleared for the top four highest-volume soft tissue outpatient procedures, including cholecystectomy, inguinal hernia repair, ventral hernia repair, and hysterectomy. Additional US indications include femoral hernia, endometriosis resection, oophorectomy, salpingectomy, sacrocolpopexy, sacrocervicopexy, sacrohysteropexy, and tubal ligation. The system is indicated for adults aged 22 years and older and is restricted to sale by or on the order of a physician.

Commercial Momentum and Leadership Commentary

The financing builds on Distalmotion's recent commercial momentum in the United States, where DEXTER adoption continues to expand across ambulatory surgery centers. Greg Roche, CEO of Distalmotion, said the additional capital will help accelerate the company's US growth strategy and strengthen its commercial presence. He also stated that Distalmotion looks forward to building a long-term relationship with the Perceptive team.

Company Mission and Global Presence

Distalmotion is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, with a US office in Cleveland, Ohio. The company's mission is to broaden access to robotic surgery by simplifying operations for more surgeons and sites of care globally, including hospital outpatient departments and ASCs. DEXTER is commercially available in the United States and Europe, positioning the company to serve a wide range of outpatient surgical environments.

With this new financing, Distalmotion aims to accelerate its expansion in the US ASC market while continuing to refine its robotic surgery platform for outpatient use. The partnership with Perceptive Advisors provides both capital and strategic healthcare investment expertise at a time when surgical care is increasingly moving outside traditional hospital settings. The agreement underscores the growing demand for accessible, efficient robotic systems that can support high-volume procedures in cost-sensitive environments.
