Berlin-based ClimateTech startup Deutsche Sanierungsberatung (dsb) has successfully closed its Series A funding round, securing over €10 million. The investment was co-led by Simon Capital and VERBUND X Ventures, with continued support from existing investors. This new capital will fuel the company's expansion, including the launch of a proprietary electricity tariff and entry into the B2B market.

Addressing Germany's Residential Emissions

Germany's residential buildings represent a significant hurdle in achieving national climate goals, contributing to roughly 30% of the country's total CO2 emissions. This environmental impact is primarily driven by heating systems that rely on fossil fuels like gas and oil. Consequently, renovating the existing housing stock is a critical lever for the nation's energy transition.

A Centralized Digital Solution for Homeowners

dsb tackles the complexity of energy renovations with a unified digital platform that simplifies the entire process for homeowners. The service begins with certified consultants creating a "digital twin" of the property to develop a personalized renovation roadmap. This approach provides a clear, prioritized plan for energy efficiency upgrades over several years.

The platform manages all aspects from subsidy applications to implementation, connecting clients with a vetted network of skilled trades businesses. By acting as a single point of contact, dsb significantly reduces the time homeowners must invest by an estimated 80%. This comprehensive service covers key measures like solar panel installation, heat pump fitting, and insulation.

Strong Investor Backing in a Challenging Market

The funding round highlights strong investor confidence in dsb's model for streamlining a fragmented market. Nico Heinz, Principal at Simon Capital, noted that dsb creates real productivity gains for both property owners and the chronically overloaded trades sector. The participation of existing investors like IBB Ventures further validates the company's strategy and progress.

Securing this investment is particularly noteworthy in the current financial climate, where attention is heavily focused on artificial intelligence. Niclas Kern, dsb's CFO and co-founder, stated that the round proves a strong growth trajectory and a viable business model can attract investors outside of major hype cycles. This success underscores the tangible value and market need for practical GreenTech solutions.

Fueling Future Expansion and New Ventures

With the new capital, dsb plans to significantly scale its operations and enhance its digital platform. A key focus will be on expanding its network of over 300 local skilled trades businesses to meet growing demand across Germany. These funds are crucial for sustaining the company's rapid growth and service delivery capabilities.

Beyond scaling its core services, the company is set to launch a proprietary electricity tariff and expand into the B2B market. CEO and co-founder Sebastian Schmidt emphasized the mission, stating that an independent, sustainable energy supply is the solution to soaring energy costs. This strategic expansion aims to broaden dsb's impact on the energy transition.

Since its founding in 2024, dsb has demonstrated impressive growth, expanding from a concept to serving over 10,000 families. Co-founder Adam Khenissi highlighted the immense potential, noting that with 80% of Germany's single-family homes still needing energy-efficiency upgrades, the company is just beginning its journey. This successful funding round positions dsb to play a pivotal role in making German homes climate-neutral.
