Cohere has signed a letter of intent to acquire AISLE, a cybersecurity company focused on autonomous discovery and remediation of previously unknown software vulnerabilities. The planned transaction would combine Cohere's sovereign AI platform, frontier models, and secure deployment infrastructure with AISLE's specialized security systems. The move aims to support organizations deploying AI across enterprise, government, and highly regulated environments while maintaining control over their data and systems.

Strategic Rationale

Organizations moving AI from experimentation to production now face growing demands around security, data protection, governance, and regulatory compliance. They must also manage software vulnerabilities and risks from autonomous systems while preserving deployment flexibility across private cloud, on-premises, and air-gapped environments. Cohere believes these challenges require a full-stack approach that integrates AI models, cybersecurity, governance, and secure deployment.

The proposed acquisition would also deepen Cohere's presence in Europe, following its recent investments involving Reliant AI and Aleph Alpha. Adding AISLE would strengthen capabilities for critical infrastructure, public-sector organizations, and regulated industries across the region. The move aligns with growing European demand for sovereign AI systems that meet strict security, privacy, compliance, and data sovereignty requirements.

AISLE's Technology and Track Record

Founded in 2024, AISLE has developed AI systems capable of discovering, validating, and helping remediate previously unknown vulnerabilities in complex production software. Its approach combines increasingly capable foundation models with specialized security expertise, large-scale code analysis, rigorous validation, and automated remediation. The company's work shows that autonomous security systems can reinforce model development and evaluation through difficult, verifiable security tasks.

During its first year out of stealth, AISLE identified more than 500 previously unknown vulnerabilities assigned CVE identifiers across more than 100 codebases. These included all 12 vulnerabilities in OpenSSL's January security release and 18 of the 24 CVEs in curl's latest release. The findings were independently reviewed by the relevant software maintainers, underscoring the practical impact of autonomous AI security research.

Leadership and Integration

AISLE's team will join Cohere, with its three founders taking leadership roles in cybersecurity, corporate security, AI security research, and frontier model development. Ondrej Vlcek will become Senior Vice President of Cohere Cyber, Jaya Baloo will become Chief Information Security Officer, and Stanislav Fort will become Vice President of AI Security. Cohere also plans a substantial long-term investment in Prague to establish the city as its global center for AI cybersecurity.

Expected Customer Benefits

The combined capabilities are expected to strengthen threat detection across enterprise and public-sector deployments while improving governance, monitoring, and observability for AI agents and autonomous workflows. Customers could also gain better protections for sensitive organizational data and mission-critical systems. The companies aim to support secure AI deployments across private cloud, on-premises, and fully air-gapped environments while advancing cyber-resilient systems.

Cohere has long maintained that organizations should retain control over their AI strategy, data, infrastructure, and governance as AI becomes embedded in critical workflows. By combining AISLE's autonomous vulnerability research with Cohere's frontier models and sovereign AI platform, the companies aim to make vulnerability discovery, validation, and remediation a continuous, scalable capability. The proposed transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, but it signals a significant step toward more secure and resilient AI deployments.
