Madrid-based firm Buenavista Equity Partners has announced a significant institutional commitment for its latest fund. The Buenavista Buyout Innvierte III fund has secured €75 million from Fond-ICO Global, Spain's public fund of funds. This injection of capital will advance the fund's mission to invest in and grow Spanish companies within the low to mid-market segment.

Strategic Partnership to Boost Spanish Enterprises

The commitment comes from Fond-ICO Global, the first public venture capital fund of funds established in Spain. With a total endowment of €4.5 billion, it plays a crucial role in developing the nation's private equity ecosystem. This backing underscores confidence in Buenavista's strategy to nurture domestic businesses from early stages through to expansion.

Enrique Centelles Satrústegui, Head of Private Equity at Buenavista, expressed pride in earning the trust of the public institution. He highlighted that this public-private collaboration is vital for their continued mission of fostering growth and internationalization. The partnership aims to help Spanish companies achieve the next stage of their development and compete globally.

Fund's Investment Focus and Strategy

Established in 2025, the Buenavista Buyout Innvierte III fund has a target size of €250 million. Its primary objective is to acquire majority stakes in Spanish companies that demonstrate strong potential for growth and international expansion. The fund focuses on key sectors including healthcare, industry, services, and food, aiming to build a robust portfolio.

The fund's core strategy revolves around a buy-and-build approach designed to create sector leaders and generate value. It plans to build a diversified portfolio of eight to ten investments while driving qualitative improvements through digitalization and generative AI. This method is intended to enhance the competitive edge of its portfolio companies on a larger scale.

Initial Investments and Future Outlook

The fund has already demonstrated its strategic approach by completing two significant transactions since its inception. The first was an investment in the Valencia-based restaurant chain Hundred Burgers to fuel its national and international growth. The second involved the acquisition of Instituto Bernabeu, creating Spain's second-largest fertility group through its portfolio company Eugin.

Buenavista has designed the fund as a strategic vehicle with a pan-European presence to create sustainable platforms. The goal is to identify well-positioned businesses that can lead sector consolidation and transform them into international competitors. This forward-looking approach leverages the firm's expertise in sourcing proprietary deals and delivering distinctive value creation.

This €75 million commitment from Fond-ICO Global marks a pivotal moment for Buenavista Equity Partners and its latest buyout fund. It not only provides substantial capital but also serves as a strong endorsement of the firm's proven strategy. The investment will undoubtedly accelerate the growth and internationalization of promising Spanish companies, reinforcing the health of the national private equity market.
