Brellium, an AI-powered clinical compliance and revenue integrity platform, has raised US$23 million in venture funding and introduced CortexLM, a proprietary system designed to audit patient notes for care and compliance gaps. The round was led by Left Lane Capital and First Round Capital, with participation from Digital Health Venture Partners. The company reports that its technology already protects nearly US$2 billion in provider revenue across more than 22 million patient visits.

Responding to Heightened Audit Pressure

Federal and private payers have sharply increased scrutiny of healthcare billing, forcing providers to defend every dollar and patient note against varied payer, regulatory, and quality rules. By the time issues surface, they often appear as denials, clawbacks, or care errors rather than preventable gaps. Brellium positions CortexLM as a way to align providers and payers around a single standard before claims are challenged.

How CortexLM Works

CortexLM acts as a chart-auditing system that reads every patient note, catches errors, and proposes fixes in care and clinical documentation before billing occurs. The system is trained against each provider organization's specific requirements, creating a defensible and audit-ready record that protects revenue while adding a layer of quality assurance. Brellium has audited 22 million patient visits to date and reports that it has protected nearly US$2 billion in provider revenue from recoupments.

Investor Confidence and Market Need

Left Lane Capital partner Henry Toole said the firm was excited to double down on Brellium because of the team's exceptional execution since its initial work with the company. He added that while compliance is not the most glamorous part of the market, the platform is the infrastructure everything else depends on. CEO Zach Rosen emphasized that providers and payers have been stuck fighting fraud, waste, and abuse from opposite sides for years, and CortexLM can establish a common standard.

Customer Outcomes

Headspace scaled its clinical quality assurance program from reviewing 2% of therapy notes to 100% after adopting Brellium, and it now reports 99.2% provider compliance with documentation standards. Brellium also offers a guarantee that if CMS or a payer finds a problem after the platform has cleared it, Brellium will pay instead of the provider. Jon Kole, medical director at Headspace, said the biggest benefit is peace of mind in ensuring high-quality patient care.

Expansion Across Specialties

Brellium's customer base now spans more than 215,000 providers and 200 provider groups across all 50 states, including Gentiva, Maxim Healthcare, Rula, and Headspace. The new funding will help Brellium go deeper into the revenue cycle and expand into additional high-stakes clinical specialties, including cardiology, pain management, and primary care. The company views these areas as opportunities to apply its compliance infrastructure where billing complexity and audit risk are especially high.

Brellium's announcement highlights how AI-powered documentation review is moving from a back-office utility to a strategic layer that protects revenue, quality, and regulatory standing. The company's growth, measured by 22 million audited patient visits and nearly US$2 billion in protected revenue, reflects rising demand for proactive compliance tools. As payers and regulators continue to intensify oversight, Brellium's expansion into new specialties could position it as a central infrastructure provider for high-stakes clinical documentation.
