Bisedge Logistics & Infrastructure has secured a €10 million long-term investment loan from Finnfund, the Finnish development financier and impact investor. The facility will support the expansion of the company's electric material handling fleet across its African operations, with a particular focus on Nigeria and East Africa. The announcement follows a recent equity investment from Metier Private Equity and gives Bisedge further momentum as it enters its next phase of growth.

Funding Package and Strategic Focus

The new facility is structured as a long-term investment loan that aligns with Bisedge's multi-year customer contracts and the operational lifecycle of its equipment. It will fund the deployment of electric forklifts, reach trucks, and tractors to clients in key African markets, particularly in Nigeria and East Africa. The financing enables the company to scale its fleet and service operations while broadening market coverage across these high-growth regions.

Zero CapEx Model and Technology

Bisedge's Zero CapEx model allows customers to modernize their material handling fleets without bearing significant upfront costs. Clients gain access to the latest technology from Linde Material Handling, including electric forklifts, reach trucks, and tractors. This approach reduces total cost of ownership, lowers emissions by shifting away from diesel and gas equipment, and improves overall intralogistics efficiency.

Regional Expansion Priorities

Nigeria and East Africa are central to Bisedge's growth strategy as demand for efficient logistics infrastructure continues to rise across the continent. The company plans to use the new funding to strengthen its service footprint in these regions, broaden its customer base, and enhance after-sales support. By scaling its electric fleet, Bisedge aims to deliver more sustainable and dependable material handling services across a wider range of industries.

Alignment with Long-Term Customer Contracts

The long-term tenor of the Finnfund facility is particularly well suited to Bisedge's business model and the multi-year nature of its customer relationships. The company typically serves clients through agreements that mirror the useful life of material handling equipment, supporting predictable service delivery. This financial structure helps the company plan investments in fleet expansion and maintenance while ensuring consistent support over time.

Executive Perspectives

Christian Wessels, Co-Founder and CEO of Bisedge, described the financing as a natural fit for a business built on long-term partnerships with customers. He emphasized that the facility will accelerate electrification of intralogistics in Nigeria and East Africa while helping clients reduce costs and emissions. Justin Nthala, Senior Investment Manager at Finnfund, said Bisedge shows how a service-based model can make clean technology accessible to African businesses.

Broader Impact and Market Context

Finnfund also views the investment as a way to support local job creation, cleaner industrial operations, and broader access to modern equipment. By removing the upfront cost of electric machinery, Bisedge helps businesses improve productivity while reducing their environmental footprint. The partnership reflects a growing investor focus on sustainable infrastructure and service-based models in African markets.

With the new €10 million facility, Bisedge is positioned to expand its electric material handling operations and deliver measurable cost and environmental benefits. The backing from Finnfund, combined with prior equity support from Metier Private Equity, strengthens the company's ability to scale across Nigeria and East Africa. As African companies seek more efficient intralogistics solutions, Bisedge's financing model offers a practical route toward cleaner and more productive operations.
