Portuguese unmanned aerial systems maker Beyond Vision has raised more than €28 million in a funding round co-led by Índico Capital Partners and Lince Capital, with follow-on investment from ActiveCap, a shareholder since 2024. The company, founded in 2013, develops AI-powered drones and cloud-based management platforms for defense, security, and critical infrastructure monitoring. The new capital will support industrial scale-up, research and development, and international expansion at a time of accelerating demand.
Funding Details and Investor Support
The round was co-led by Índico Capital Partners and Lince Capital, two Portuguese venture capital firms focused on technology and high-value-added sectors. ActiveCap, which first invested in Beyond Vision in 2024, also participated in the transaction. The company announced the funding after exceeding its 2025 revenue estimate and expanding its portfolio of military and civilian clients across several countries.
Capital Allocation and Technology Roadmap
Beyond Vision plans to use the proceeds to strengthen its operational infrastructure and scale industrial production capacity for autonomous systems. A significant portion will be directed toward research and development, particularly the integration of advanced artificial intelligence algorithms and new features for its cloud management platform. The company will also accelerate commercial expansion in defense, security, and critical infrastructure monitoring markets.
Growth Momentum and NATO Supplier Status
Led by CEO Dário Pedro and Chairman Luís Miguel Campos, Beyond Vision has grown its workforce to 150 employees and is registered as a NATO supplier. The company has also exceeded its revenue projections for 2025 and expanded its client base internationally. These milestones position the company to capture a larger share of rising global demand for autonomous systems.
Investor Perspectives
Stephan de Moraes, Managing General Partner of Índico Capital Partners, said that countries now view reliable and sovereign technology in defense and infrastructure as a strategic priority. He added that Beyond Vision has redefined the market by combining high-precision hardware with advanced artificial intelligence at a competitive cost. Tomás Lavin Peixe, Head of Venture Capital at Lince Capital, highlighted the geopolitical context and European defense investment as opportunities for internationally capable technology companies.
International Expansion Plans
According to the company, the new funding will support commercial expansion into new international markets with particular emphasis on defense and security. Beyond Vision is also reported to be planning a new factory in the United States with a €50 million investment by 2027. The company holds a €15 million contract to supply 300 emergency drones to the United States by 2028.
With fresh capital, a strong technical foundation, and growing institutional demand for sovereign autonomous systems, Beyond Vision is well positioned to scale its operations and compete globally. The funding round reflects investor confidence in the company's ability to address critical defense and infrastructure needs with advanced, cost-effective technology. As it expands its production footprint and international presence, the company aims to reinforce Portugal's role in high-value-added technology ecosystems.
