Betagro Public Company Limited (SET: BTG), a leading integrated food company in Thailand, announced on October 20, 2026 that it has acquired a majority stake in Freshket, Thailand's leading digital food supply platform for the hotel, restaurant, and catering (HORECA) sector. The investment was made through Betagro Ventures, and financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction gives Betagro a direct digital channel to more than 20,000 foodservice operators and marks the company's first entry into the foodtech sector.

Strategic Rationale and Foodtech Expansion

The acquisition extends Betagro's integrated food ecosystem from production through to digital distribution and strengthens its foodservice business. It accelerates the expansion of digital distribution channels by pairing Betagro's internationally certified food production and nationwide logistics network with Freshket's proprietary platform. This move positions Betagro to reach foodservice customers more directly while improving supply chain efficiency across Thailand.

Freshket's Platform and Growth Trajectory

Founded in 2017, Freshket connects farmers and producers directly with foodservice businesses through an end-to-end supply chain. The platform offers more than 10,000 products to over 20,000 operators with delivery accuracy above 98.5%. Customers use Freshket to streamline logistics, reduce food waste, and gain greater transparency across their supply chains.

Freshket is also pursuing several key growth strategies to expand its market presence. The company plans to broaden its range of imported products, including seafood, premium Japanese ingredients, cheese, and butter. It will also extend service beyond Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, and Khon Kaen to the Greater Bangkok area and major regional cities while upgrading its cold-chain logistics.

Value Creation Across the Supply Chain

The partnership creates value for multiple stakeholders across the food supply chain. HORECA operators gain faster access to a broader range of quality products on a single platform, from meat and fresh produce to dry goods and frozen products, with greater convenience and better cost efficiency. Freshket secures stronger upstream supply and the backing of Betagro's logistics network and capital, while Betagro gains a direct digital route to foodservice customers and more efficient raw material management.

Executive Perspectives

Chayadhorn Taepaisitphongse, President of Animal Nutrition and New Ventures at Betagro, described Freshket as the leading digital channel to Thailand's foodservice operators. He said Betagro brings the production and logistics scale to stand behind it, marking an entry into foodtech and building an integrated farm-to-kitchen ecosystem. Freshket CEO and Co-Founder Ponglada Paniangwet emphasized that secure, cost-efficient supply is essential for food distributors, and Betagro provides that foundation.

Commitment to Digital Growth

The partnership underscores Betagro's commitment to innovation-led, digitally driven growth in Thailand's food industry. By making the food supply chain more efficient and transparent, it opens sustainable growth opportunities for farmers, producers, restaurant operators, and the wider food ecosystem. The combined capabilities are expected to strengthen the competitiveness of Thailand's food industry over the long term.

Betagro's acquisition of a majority stake in Freshket represents a strategic step into digital food distribution and foodtech. The collaboration combines upstream production strength with a proven digital platform serving more than 20,000 HORECA operators. Both companies expect the partnership to deliver faster access to quality products, improve cost efficiency, and support sustainable growth across Thailand's food supply chain.
