Ayman Mamdouh Abbas, CEO of Intro Holding Group, has acquired a 10% stake in the Egyptian real estate assignment platform Aqar Exit for EGP 10 million. The transaction values the company at EGP 100 million (US$2 million) and follows the startup's appearance on the fifth season of Shark Tank Egypt. Founder and Chairman Mahmoud Ammar said the deal marks a significant step in the platform's effort to address real estate payment defaults.
Strategic Investment and Market Confidence
Ammar explained that the investment reflects strong confidence in the platform's business model, which helps financially distressed buyers exit their property obligations more flexibly. During the Shark Tank Egypt episode, the startup presented a solution that attracted praise from the investor panel for tackling a real challenge in the Egyptian property market. The model enables sellers to recover the cash amounts they have already paid without incurring overprice charges.
How the Platform Addresses Real Estate Distress
Aqar Exit connects sellers who want to exit their real estate commitments with buyers seeking competitive investment opportunities. Sellers can assign their units and recover the amounts they paid in cash, while buyers purchase the properties at the original contract price. This approach reduces financial pressure on original buyers, creates value for new buyers, and improves efficiency in the resale and assignment market.
A First Mover in the Assignment Market
Aqar Exit describes itself as the first Egyptian and Arabic platform dedicated to the real estate assignment market for distressed clients. The platform focuses on a segment that has traditionally lacked structured alternatives for buyers who can no longer keep up with installment payments. Its approach creates an organized pathway that benefits sellers, buyers, and the broader property market.
Recorded Deal Metrics
Since its launch in July 2026, the platform has closed 638 deals with a combined value of EGP 9 billion. The strongest monthly performance came in September, when 404 deals were closed compared with 233 in the preceding month. This acceleration highlights rising demand for an organized marketplace that addresses real estate payment defaults.
Demand Indicators
Aqar Exit has recorded 14,845 assignment files submitted by 11,833 sellers, alongside 67,013 total buy orders from 32,870 unique buyers. The average number of daily purchase requests increased by 58% to 1,060 from 671 in the previous period. Average weekly closed deals also grew by 148% to 85 deals compared with 34 in the prior period.
Expansion Plans and Upcoming Funding
The platform will use the capital increase to launch new products and support its expansion into foreign markets, with a particular focus on the Gulf region. Ammar added that Aqar Exit plans to conduct a US$5 million funding round in 2027 with participation from investors, business figures, and investment funds from Egypt and abroad. The planned round is intended to support growth and regional expansion as the company strengthens its operations in the real estate market.
The investment by Ayman Mamdouh Abbas validates Aqar Exit's position as an emerging solution for real estate assignment and distressed payment cases in Egypt. By turning payment defaults into organized resale opportunities, the platform offers flexibility to original buyers and competitive deals to new investors. With new products, regional expansion plans, and a US$5 million funding target in 2027, Aqar Exit is positioned for its next phase of growth.
