Sydney-founded cybersecurity firm Apate.AI has closed a US$8.15 million seed funding round to fuel its global expansion. Led by Silicon Valley's Lobby Capital, the funding supports the company's reincorporation in the United States as it scales its innovative anti-scam platform. Apate.AI utilizes advanced AI agents to proactively engage and disrupt international fraud networks, which cause over a trillion dollars in losses annually.

A Proactive Approach to Cyber Fraud

Apate.AI moves beyond traditional, reactive fraud detection methods that only identify scams after they occur. The platform deploys armies of adversarial AI agents that infiltrate criminal networks across various communication channels. These agents engage fraudsters directly, turning the tables by disrupting their operations and wasting their valuable resources.

The company's realistic voice and text agents convincingly mimic potential victims, sometimes sustaining conversations for up to two hours. During these interactions, the agents extract actionable intelligence like phishing links, mule bank accounts, and crypto wallet details. This unique data provides institutions with critical insights that are otherwise impossible to obtain.

Strategic Expansion and Corporate Restructuring

The new capital will be instrumental in deepening the platform's capabilities and driving international growth. Apate.AI is establishing a new office in London to serve the European market and is building its presence in North America. Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Peter Eckermann will relocate to the United States to lead this expansion.

This strategic restructuring, including reincorporating as a Delaware corporation, positions Apate.AI to meet demand from global financial and telecommunications companies. While key leadership expands overseas, the company's core technology and research teams will remain based in Sydney. This dual-hemisphere approach supports a robust global service delivery model.

Proven Efficacy and Market Validation

The platform's effectiveness is already proven through its work with institutions like the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. To date, Apate.AI has conducted over 2.5 million autonomous conversations with malicious actors on behalf of the bank. These engagements have yielded more than 250,000 unique intelligence artefacts for fraud prevention.

This vast corpus of intelligence is fed directly into customer disruption pipelines, enabling them to proactively block threats. The success with a tier-one bank provides powerful market validation and demonstrates the platform's ability to deliver tangible results. It showcases a clear return on investment by preventing financial losses and protecting customers.

Investor Confidence and a Shifting Regulatory Landscape

Investor confidence is high, with Lobby Capital partner Buddy Arnheim noting that scammers are proliferating by embracing AI. He praised Apate's pioneering solution for its proactive approach and unparalleled results in combating this accelerating threat. The investment reflects a belief in the team's unique technical expertise and market leadership.

The funding coincides with a global regulatory shift holding institutions more accountable for preventing scams. New frameworks in Australia, the UK, and the EU are transforming fraud prevention from a reputational concern into a balance-sheet obligation. Apate.AI's technology directly helps organizations meet these stringent new compliance requirements.

With its new funding and strategic global expansion, Apate.AI is poised to scale its fight against cybercrime. The company's mission to flip the script on the economics of fraud is gaining critical momentum. By empowering institutions to get ahead of threats, Apate.AI is building a new frontline in the global defense against scams.
