Amsterdam-based Promptwatch has successfully secured €6 million in a seed funding round to enhance its AI Search Optimization platform. The investment was led by seed + speed Ventures, with participation from Blum Ventures and existing investor Arches Capital. This capital infusion will help the company address the significant shift in how users discover information online, moving from traditional search engines to AI-powered tools.


Navigating the Shift in Digital Search

The digital marketing landscape is facing a monumental transformation as AI reshapes user search habits. Industry analysts at Gartner predict that organic search traffic could plummet by as much as 50 percent by 2028. This change is driven by a growing preference for AI-generated answers, which threatens the established methods marketers have relied on for two decades.

This evolution renders traditional search engine optimization metrics like keywords, rankings, and click-through rates increasingly obsolete. When an AI model recommends a product, it synthesizes information and forms opinions without revealing the specific factors influencing its choice. Brands are left without clear insights into why one competitor is favored over another, creating a significant visibility challenge.

Founded in 2025 by Gijs de Groot and Klaas Foppen, Promptwatch was created to fill this analytical void. The company has demonstrated remarkable market traction, achieving €2 million in annual recurring revenue just twelve months after its launch. Promptwatch now serves over 1,840 organizations, including prominent names like Duolingo, Fireflies, and Monks, validating its powerful solution.

Promptwatch operates in the burgeoning Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) sector, which is projected to grow from $1 billion in 2025 to $17 billion by 2034. The field includes well-funded competitors such as Berlin-based Peec AI and US-based Profound. Promptwatch aims to differentiate itself by offering an integrated solution that combines deep monitoring with automated content publishing.

The platform's effectiveness is highlighted by client successes, such as the global marketing agency Monks. After observing unexplained declines in market share for its clients, the agency adopted Promptwatch and reported a 72 percent increase in AI Search citations. This result showcases the platform's ability to deliver tangible improvements in brand visibility within AI-driven search environments.

Strategic Use of New Capital

The new €6 million in funding brings Promptwatch's total disclosed capital to approximately €7.2 million. The company plans to use these funds to accelerate its global expansion, starting with a new office in New York. This move will deepen its connections with its growing base of US customers, marketing agencies, and enterprise clients.

Investor confidence is high, as expressed by Alexander Kölpin, managing partner at seed + speed Ventures. He praised the experienced founding team for achieving significant revenue with limited resources, validating their business model and market strategy. The investment will also fuel the development of more agentic AI features and the expansion of its engineering and go-to-market teams.
