Allegion Ventures, the corporate venture fund of Allegion plc, has led a Series C funding round for Ambient.ai, a leader in Agentic Physical Security based in Redwood City, California. The investment represents the fund's second strategic commitment to the company after first joining its portfolio in 2023. The announcement underscores rising enterprise interest in artificial intelligence systems that turn existing security cameras and sensors into proactive, always-on infrastructure.
Expanded Commitment and Governance
The Series C round pushes Ambient.ai's total funding past US$100 million, according to the company. Allegion Ventures President Rob Martens, who also serves as Allegion's chief strategy officer, led the investment and will now formally join Ambient.ai's board of directors. Martens had served as a board observer since 2023 and joins existing board member Martin Casado from Andreessen Horowitz, who has served since 2019.
Additional financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. The move marks Allegion Ventures' second investment in Ambient.ai, following the company's initial inclusion in the corporate venture portfolio in 2023. It also strengthens governance links between the two organizations as they collaborate on secure access, threat detection, and data analytics.
Technology Adoption and Financial Momentum
Ambient.ai's platform enables organizations to turn passive video and sensor networks into an always-on security agent. Following the launch of Ambient Pulsar, an edge-optimized reasoning vision-language model built for physical security, adoption has accelerated across corporate campuses, data centers, critical infrastructure, education, manufacturing, healthcare, and museums. The platform is designed to help security teams move from reactive incident response to proactive threat prevention.
The company reported 90% annual recurring revenue growth in fiscal year 2026 and was cash flow positive in the first half of the year. Those results reflect strong commercial demand from Fortune 100 companies and other large organizations. The financial momentum coincides with increasing market interest in AI agents that can perceive, reason, and act in real time under human oversight.
Executive Views on the Partnership
Allegion President and CEO John H. Stone said Ambient continues to prove the transformative potential of purpose-built AI in physical security. He noted that the follow-on investment underscores confidence in the company's technology, leadership, and increased collaboration between the two organizations. Stone framed the partnership as an opportunity to accelerate innovation across secure access, threat detection, and data analytics.
Ambient.ai CEO Shikhar Shrestha said the investment allows the company to move faster in bringing agentic capabilities to physical security with continued aggressive investment in research and development. He emphasized that the next era of enterprise physical security will run on AI agents working alongside experienced operators. Shrestha said the partnership with Allegion reflects a shared passion for meaningful work and more intelligent security.
Company Foundation and Strategic Alignment
Ambient.ai was founded in 2017 by CEO Shikhar Shrestha and Chief Technology Officer Vikesh Khanna, both experts in computer vision and artificial intelligence. The company's mission to prevent every possible security incident aligns with Allegion's vision of creating a safer and more accessible world. Its platform applies Ambient Intelligence to continuously perceive, understand, and respond to real-world events in real time with human-in-the-loop control and privacy by design.
The latest investment signals continued venture confidence in applied AI for physical security, particularly as enterprises seek proactive threat detection, operational efficiency, and measurable return on investment. With total funding now beyond US$100 million, Ambient.ai is positioned to scale its agentic systems across more industries and geographies. The evolving collaboration between Allegion and Ambient.ai could help define a new standard for security operations that blend AI agents with experienced human operators.
