Sydney-based AI security startup Dam Secure has successfully closed a $6.1 million AUD ($4.1 million USD) seed funding round. The investment was led by Paladin Capital Group, a prominent cybersecurity and AI investor based in Washington, D.C. This capital injection will fuel the company's mission to address the escalating security risks posed by AI-generated software code.


The Growing Security Gap in AI Development

The rapid enterprise adoption of AI aims to boost developer productivity, but it introduces significant security challenges. The sheer volume of software being created is overwhelming traditional application security processes and tools. This creates a critical need for new solutions that can keep pace with the speed of AI-assisted development.

Co-founder Patrick Collins highlights that AI systems often produce code with dangerous 'logic gaps' invisible to existing scanners. Industry research indicates that large language models can introduce vulnerabilities in up to half of the code they generate. These flaws are not typical bugs but are exploits in valid logic, leading to costly breaches.

A Proactive Approach to AI Code Security

Dam Secure is developing an AI-native platform designed to proactively manage these emerging threats. The system is built around a unique engine that allows organizations to define security requirements using plain English. This innovative approach shifts security from a reactive, post-development scan to an integrated part of the coding process.

By translating natural language rules, such as “customer data must be encrypted at rest,” into automated enforcement, the platform acts as a guardrail. It automatically applies these security policies across extensive codebases during the software development lifecycle. This ensures that security standards are met before vulnerable code is ever deployed into production environments.

Strong Investor Backing and Industry Validation

The funding round was led by Paladin Capital Group, whose Managing Director, Mourad Yesayan, will join Dam Secure's board. Yesayan emphasized that the current approach to application security is struggling to keep up with generative AI's pace. He noted that Dam Secure is critically focused on establishing necessary guardrails around this new developer workflow.

The investment also saw participation from a notable group of technology executives, validating Dam Secure's vision. Supporters include Secure Code Warrior CEO Pieter Danhieux, RecordPoint CEO Anthony Woodward, and Tyro Payments CPO Steen Andersson. This backing from seasoned industry leaders underscores the market's confidence in the company's founders and their solution.

With the new capital, Dam Secure plans to significantly accelerate its product development roadmap. The company, founded by former Zip Co and Secure Code Warrior executives Patrick Collins and Simon Harloff, has already garnered substantial interest.
