Procode Inc. has officially launched with $4 million in funding to transform revenue cycle management (RCM) for surgeons in private practice. The AI-powered company marked its debut with the strategic acquisition of The Auctus Group, a leading U.S. medical biller for plastic surgeons and dermatologists. This move provides Procode with an immediate and substantial foothold in the specialized medical billing market, serving over 300 providers from day one.

A Strategic Acquisition for Market Entry

Rather than building a client base from scratch, Procode adopted an aggressive go-to-market strategy by purchasing an established industry leader. The acquisition of The Auctus Group, founded in 2012, gives Procode instant distribution and access to a wealth of proprietary workflow data essential for refining its AI models. John Gwin, founder of The Auctus Group, will continue to lead the RCM business, ensuring continuity and expertise.

Gwin expressed confidence in the partnership, noting that most RCM AI products he had encountered were ineffective. He stated that Procode's technology was the first he found that could genuinely equip his team to deliver superior billing outcomes for clients. This endorsement from an industry veteran underscores the practical applicability and potential of Procode's AI solutions in a skeptical market.

Revolutionizing RCM with an AI-Powered Suite

At the core of Procode's offering is a sophisticated suite of AI tools designed to automate and streamline the complex billing process. The flagship product, the Procode AI Coding Copilot, translates complex surgical operative reports into accurate billing and diagnostic codes. The company claims this tool enables medical coders to perform their tasks up to 90% faster and with significantly greater accuracy.

Complementing the copilot is an advanced AR/Denials Management Engine that uses AI to accelerate decision-making for accounts receivable and payment posting. The company also launched the Auctus Provider App, available on iOS and Android, which offers surgeons unprecedented, real-time transparency into their financial data and claims status. This integrated approach tackles multiple pain points within the traditional revenue cycle.

Early Traction and a Surgeon-Centric Vision

The integration of Procode's technology has already yielded impressive results, with the company adding $2 million in annual recurring revenue within five months of the acquisition. This rapid growth demonstrates the tangible benefits for providers, including fewer coding-related denials and maximized reimbursements. The $4 million funding round was led by Story Ventures, with participation from CHAP Health Ventures and other notable investors.

The company's mission is deeply rooted in the experiences of its founders, which include surgeon Dr. Kameron Rezzadeh. Co-founder Jeff Cripe emphasized a singular goal: to build the premier AI-powered RCM company for surgeons, removing administrative burdens so they can focus on patient care. Dr. Rezzadeh added that the technology ensures providers are reimbursed fairly and faster than ever before.

Procode's launch represents a significant development in the health-tech landscape, combining a bold market-entry strategy with powerful, results-driven AI technology. By acquiring an established leader and immediately demonstrating value, the company has positioned itself as a formidable new force in medical billing. Its focus on empowering surgeons with financial clarity and efficiency promises to address long-standing challenges in private practice revenue management.
