Copenhagen-based os.energy has officially launched its consumer energy brand, Osmund, after operating in stealth mode for a year. The launch is supported by a €1 million pre-seed investment from the Danish early-stage investor PSV Tech. Osmund aims to challenge the traditional energy market by offering electricity at cost price through an advanced, AI-driven platform.

A New Model for Energy Retail

Osmund introduces a transparent business model that eliminates margins on electricity consumption, a common practice among traditional retailers. Instead, customers pay the exact cost price for the power they use, with the company generating revenue through alternative streams. This approach directly aligns the company's interests with those of its customers, focusing on value creation over consumption billing.

The company offers two primary products: Osmund Åben, which provides power at cost with an optional app subscription, and Osmund Rolig, a plan with a flat monthly fee that includes the app. This structure ensures revenue comes from its digital services and subscriptions, not from marking up energy usage. The goal is to build a sustainable business by helping consumers understand and reduce their energy costs.

Leveraging AI for Transparency and Efficiency

At the core of Osmund's operation is os.energy's proprietary AI-native platform, which automates everything from market data analysis to billing and customer service. This high degree of automation allows the company to operate with a very small team and minimal overhead costs. These efficiency gains are passed directly to consumers in the form of lower prices and a superior digital experience.

A key differentiator is the Osmund energy app, which empowers users to understand their consumption patterns like never before. Customers can ask questions in plain language, such as "why is my bill higher this month," and receive clear, visual explanations. This breaks from the industry standard of opaque PDF bills and long customer service queues, fostering genuine transparency.

The Founders' Vision for a Greener Grid

The company was founded by Niklas Allamand Dib, previously of Bodil.energy, and Maziar Zamani, former CTO of Rokoko. Their combined expertise in climate technology, AI, and robotics drives their mission to innovate within a sector they see as stagnant. They argue that activating the vast amounts of available energy data is crucial for both customer experience and the green transition.

Looking ahead, os.energy plans to introduce "New Energy" services focused on smart home energy management. This includes intelligent control of electric vehicle chargers, heat pumps, and home batteries to optimize consumption for times when power is cheapest and greenest. These services aim to create savings for customers while providing essential flexibility to the electricity grid.

Investor Confidence and Market Disruption

The €1 million pre-seed investment from PSV Tech signals strong confidence in os.energy's disruptive potential. Sebastian von Wildenrath Wegmann, Principal Investor at PSV Tech, highlighted the experienced team and their mission to transform an entire industry with AI. He noted the platform's ability to serve customers at a marginal operating cost of nearly zero.

PSV Tech believes the AI-native platform is highly scalable and can establish a completely new price standard in a locked market. The investment will fuel further development of the energy platform and the rollout of new services. This backing validates the founders' belief that technology can break down the barriers that have historically limited innovation in the energy sector.

The launch of Osmund represents a significant step forward for the Danish energy market, introducing a consumer-centric model built on transparency and AI-driven efficiency. By decoupling revenue from consumption, os.energy not only promises lower bills but also positions itself as a key enabler of the green transition. The company's innovative approach could set a new benchmark for how energy retailers operate and create value for their customers.
