Jordan-based edtech company Abwaab has acquired Egyptian startup Eduact for an undisclosed amount, expanding into digital infrastructure for independent teachers and learning centers. The deal adds Eduact’s software and educator network to Abwaab’s broader education platform in Egypt. It is Abwaab’s second acquisition in 2026, following its purchase of Apex Education earlier this year.
Expanding Beyond Digital Learning
Founded in Jordan in 2019 by Hamdi Tabbaa, Sabri Hakim, and Hussein AlSarabi, Abwaab provides curriculum-aligned digital learning, assessment products, and other education services across six MENA markets. The company has built its presence around online educational content and assessment tools aimed primarily at students, while gradually expanding into additional services across the education value chain. The acquisition of Eduact adds a business-to-business element by enabling Abwaab to serve teachers and learning centers operating across both physical and digital channels.
Eduact Adds Infrastructure for Educators
Founded in Egypt in 2020 by Adham Hamed and Ali Hisham, Eduact has developed a software-as-a-service platform designed for independent teachers and small learning centers. Its technology allows educators to manage video content, grading, payments, and administrative workflows while connecting online and offline learning operations. By joining Abwaab, Eduact gains access to a broader regional distribution network that could help extend its technology to more education providers across Egypt and other MENA markets.
Integrating Technology and Local Networks
Abwaab plans to integrate Eduact’s platform and relationships with Egyptian educators into its wider product ecosystem, combining its content and assessment capabilities with tools designed for education providers. The strategy is intended to strengthen Abwaab’s position in markets where private tutors and learning centers remain an important part of the education system despite the growth of digital learning platforms. Abwaab co-founder and CEO Hamdi Tabbaa said the company believes regional education transformation depends on working with teams that have already built trust and solved problems within local communities.
Building a Broader Education Platform
The acquisition reflects Abwaab’s broader effort to expand beyond its original student-focused business and build a platform serving different participants across the education sector. Earlier in 2026, the company acquired Egypt-based Apex Education, which specializes in international university admissions, extending Abwaab into higher education preparation and advisory services. Together, the Eduact and Apex Education transactions broaden Abwaab’s offering across school learning, educator infrastructure, and services supporting students as they progress toward university.
The Eduact acquisition strengthens Abwaab’s position in Egypt while adding technology for independent educators and learning centers. Combining Eduact’s SaaS platform with Abwaab’s content, assessments, and regional reach could expand the company’s role across both digital and offline education. With two acquisitions completed in 2026, Abwaab is continuing to build a broader regional education platform.
